Meet Terri Tyson
Terri Tyson is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Illinois with 18 years of experience helping people navigate life’s challenges with resilience and faith. Terri’s work is guided by compassion, curiosity, and the belief that healing begins when we feel seen and understood. In addition to counseling, Terri served as a hospital and hospice chaplain, walking with people through crisis, loss, and transformation. These experiences deepen her understanding of how purpose and hope can coexist even in difficult seasons of life.
Terri holds a Master of Science degree in Education with a concentration in Community Counseling from the University of Dayton. She also holds a Master of Divinity degree in Pastoral Counseling from United Theological Seminary. Terri’s approach is to draw on evidence-based practices and spiritual insight to promote self-discovery, and personal growth.
Terri meets clients where they are, without judgment or expectation, creating a space for honest reflection and forward movement. The goal is to provide the tools and support needed to reach meaningful outcomes. Together, we’ll explore how to walk this journey at your pace, building confidence and clarity along the way.
"As a person who has walked with people through life’s challenges, I empathize and understand that sometimes we just need to stop and breathe before we can move forward."
Methodology
Terri utilizes primarily cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as her methodology. This is a practical, short-term talk therapy that teaches you how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected.
By identifying and changing negative or distorted thought patterns, you can learn to react to difficult situations in healthier, more positive ways. She also utilizes exploration of coping patterns, teaches coping strategies, and engages in structured problem-solving.
